  • UEFA's annual congress is to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on 24th May.

    We say:
    1. Join the demonstration outside the hotel (11am-4pm)
    2. March from St. Pancras Station to Grosvenor House Hotel (12 noon)
    3. If pushed for time, come for an hour when you can or from 2pm for the main events!

At a time when racism in sport is more visible and publicly denounced than ever, the European Football Association (UEFA) insists on including Israel as a member country (without including Palestine) whilst also awarding Israel rights to host the European Under-21 championships there in June this year.

While this provides an opportunity for Israel to portray itself in a positive light around Europe, this tournament is unlikely to expose the true situation in the region for football fans - where Palestinian children are regularly imprisoned, new Israeli settlements are built daily on Palestinian land and checkpoints prevent Palestinians from moving from home to work, school, university, or even the hospital (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYamviV7ZSY). It is no less than a state-condoned and state-conducted racism against a people. And as it stands UEFA, the English FA and FIFA are all complicit.

With less than two months to go until the start of the championships, we call for mass action from all Europeans to:

    1. Warn participating footballers of their complicity in the Israeli occupation of Palestine. It is not too late for them to withdraw from the competition.
    2. Tell the UEFA delegation, who are holding their Annual Congress in the Grosvenor Hotel on Park Lane on this day, that they do not represent us and should move the tournament to England (the FA has offered itself as reserve host)!
    3. Let the world know of our disgust at UEFA's decisions

    DETAILS:
    1. March at 12 midday from St Pancras station (main entrance) to the Grosvenor House hotel via companies complicit in the occupation
    2. Join the rally at any time from 11am to 4pm outside the hotel
    3. Unite with the mass gathering - from 2pm outside the hotel

    EXPECT:
    Music - live and amplified
    Footballs and goals
    Red Cards

    BRING:
    Football shirts!!!!!!!!!

Follow @RCIRacism and the #RedCardIsraeliRacism hashtag on Twitter for updates

May 3-5, 2013 – Vancouver, Canada – University of British Columbia

The Conference of the Palestinian Shatat in North America, taking place in Vancouver from May 3-5, has announced its schedule of workshops and plenaries! Full schedule available here: http://www.palestinianconference.org/conference-program-and-schedule/

Registration is now open for the Conference – save on early registration rates until April 7.

Join us in Vancouver – register today: http://www.palestinianconference.org/register/

The conference will not be possible without grassroots support and contributions. To help support this conference, become a sponsor, or purchase a journal ad, visit us online: http://www.palestinianconference.org/donate/

As we approach our 65th year of exile from our homeland, the need for Palestinians in the shatat (diaspora) to reinvigorate, develop and carry out an effective strategy for our national movement for liberation and return is as urgent as ever.  For too long our voices have been excluded and the majority of us have been unrepresented in the decision-making and direction of our movement.

We call on all Palestinian activists, organizers and community members in the shatat to join us in this historical gathering to re-examine our history and build together towards a free future for our people and land by putting an end to Zionist colonization and normalization everywhere throughout the Palestinian and Arab homeland.

Join us to plan, discuss and learn from each other about our homeland and how we can become active participants in reviving our movement. The conference will include facilitated workshops, plenary discussions, conversations, and presentations – it welcomes your participation, your voice, and your active involvement in reclaiming the voice of the shatat.

Call to Action: Join Addameer’s Global End Administrative Detention Campaign!

8th April 2013 |Addameer, Occupied Palestine

Addameer calls on activists and people of conscience to stand in solidarity with all political prisoners and join Addameer Prisoners’ Support and Human Rights Organization’s upcoming global campaign against administrative detention.

Over 4,743 Palestinians are currently detained by Israel; 10 of them women, 193 of them children, and 178 of them held under administrative detention, a decrepit policy that Israel uses to hold Palestinians on secret information indefinitely without charging them or allowing them to stand trial.
Not only are these prisoners held arbitrarily, but Israel’s use of administrative detention violates several international standards, such as deporting Palestinians from the occupied territory to Israel, denying regular family visits and failing to take into account the best interests of child detainees as required under international law.
We need your support to break their chains and the silence on administrative detention.

Today, Israel has outsourced security for prisons where Palestinians are held to a British-Danish company named G4S. Along with the Israeli Prison Service, G4S is responsible for the harsh conditions the prisoners faced during the historic 2012 hunger strikes that thousands of Palestinians participated in, including two hunger strikers that neared death in protest of their arbitrary detention, Khader Adnan and Hana Al-Shalabi. G4S is also complicit in Israel’s detention of nearly one-third of the Palestinian Legislative Council since 2006, and for dozens of human rights defenders being arrested every year for participating in popular resistance.
The government of Israel should release all administrative detainees, and in the meantime, all administrative detainees must be granted their rights in accordance with international law.
Addameer supports the international boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign against G4S to end its complicity in detaining administrative detainees and  to put pressure on the Israeli government to release the prisoners. Addameer calls on solidarity organizations, individuals and human rights organizations around the world to join our End Administrative Detention campaign launching on 17 April 2013.

TAKE ACTION!
You can help us pressure the Israeli government to release the prisoners by:
  • Participating in a mass day of mobilization in your city on 17 April, the annual Palestinian Prisoners Day.
  • Organizing an “End Administrative Detention” week on 17-24 April 2013 in your city or university campus using Addameer’s forthcoming campaign materials.
  •  Joining a local G4S BDS campaign in your city.
  • Raising awareness about administrative detention in your community using our forthcoming Activist Toolkit.
  • Send notice of your action with dates, places etc to Palestine Summer and watch our Action Calendar
